It's all gone quiet or moving along at a snails pace thanks to funding removal . Obviously there hasn't been any major breakthroughs . There are varying reports on it's performance but it is widely thought that the extra energy required negates the emission reduction . Then there's finding somewhere to put the CO2 and keeping it there .
There was some promise in using the captured CO2 to feed algae that could then be turned into oil . Exxonmobil proved the technology although the cost was the issue . I think it is still being studied .
I guess the big question is at what point do you stop researching these competing technologies ( ccs vs renewables plus storage ) . It appears that storage is winning the race at the moment .
