Yeah , I know some people in the industry as well although my info is anecdotal . The feedback was that ccs is totally doable , it's just not very good . Uses heaps of energy for a large power station - suggested up to 50% of the station . Lots of nasty chemicals to capture the co2 and then there's the pumping and storage . Concentrated co2 is very corrosive so everything needs to be made from exotic materials . Then there's where to store it . Apparently when politicians started talking about this over a decade ago we didn't even have the legislation for it . The infrastructure to pump it and store it as suggested in Victoria was going to very , very expensive .

I notice that some of the coalition pollies keep mentioning ccs recently and yet I can't find any proof of ccs plants that have advanced the technology since the trials a few years ago . The pollies also refer to the Finkel report about ccs but when you read the detail it doesn't really support it .

Anyone have some more up to date info on ccs ?

It looks like MIT has stopped looking at it although there are a few interesting links there .
