Why is spinning it off good news? They indicate more acquisitions ahead - yet the current problems are all around the business integrations that are destroying shareholder value so I am pessimistic. The spin-off will be too small to attract large funds - better scale in keeping it together.
They should get the businesses they have humming and producing free cash. The share price could double easily from here if they just demonstrated successful integration, some free cash flow and undertake a shareholder friendly initiative such as a buyback or dividend.
You have influence with 2% - perhaps use it to get them to add value not take risks.
