I know every body is in agreeance that this is an absolute tragedy but I believe its something that was going to happen at some time. Although i do not blame the admistrators for the death of Woolmer, i believe they have to have a good hard look at themselves and see what direction cricket is going in. Blind Freddy can see that the sub continent holds the power in cricket. The ICC have become a laughing stock. They have allowed Pakistan to get away with too much for too long. The Daryl Hair incident was the icing on the cake as far as i am concerned. Year after year we see Pakistan embroiled in match fixing. They lead the way in most controversies in cricket. But, for a sport to hang their best umpire out to dry is an absolute disgrace. This basically sent the message to all officialdom that you are not to question any of the teams from the subcontinent. We see rules being bent to accommodate those teams. Muralitharian clearly chucks the ball. If he was from South Africa or NZ the governing body would have told him to fix his action. Now we are starting to see players coming through the ranks with bent arm actions.

Unfortunately the ICC have brought this all upon themselves. They are in a position where they are going to lose millions because India and Pakistan are not going to progress. Their scheduling of cricket throughout the seasons is very questionable basically scheduling matches for revenue purposes. What happens then? We get meaningless games of cricket between countries where the players dont really care who wins or loses. Then what happens? They play into the bookies hands.

Its time the ICC showed some leadership. It will be interesting to see what comes of the Woolmer death. Will a cricketing nation be held accountable? I doubt it.
