Why should ASIC or the ASX care?
Unless they're trading on inside knowledge or other disallowed things (dodgy dealings in your own stock for instance), Companies are allowed to trade shares just like you or I can.
Convincing their shareholders that its what they should be focusing their time on may be a different issue, but ASIC/ASX will just let shareholders show their approval (or not) in the price.
