I'll add taking a cab from Beijing airport to city centre in peak hour traffic to that "torture" list.

Hi bros, from downtown Beijing on an unusually (am told) sunny day with clear blue sky. U can fit all of Oz's people inside the 5th ring road which has a circumference of 220 km ........ with construction cranes filling the skyline ........ all that copper and nickel for the steel and copper for the electric cables and zinc for the iron bless their hearts !!! And overheating inside and lit up like the day outside means our sino bros will be looking for HEAPS more energy too.
Has Warwick added our base metals "bit" to his fair value of the Jungle King haha?

On the R+R, all I can say about China is freakin unbelievable. So glad all the cultural bits have been so well preserved. Half the country is on the world heritage list. Suzhou and Zhouzhuang are bits of living history within a coupla hours bus trip from Shanghai. The latter is described as the Eastern "Venice" .... reminds u a bit of Lijiang Straight.

Gotta do the "usual" whilst in the capital I guess ..... Forbidden City, Summer Palace and of course the Great Wall to remind us of our own at the second marker buoy. But after that, headed for the "real" McCoy .... to Chengdu to hitch a ride to what the Chinese say is the most beautiful place on earth .... Jiuzhaigou at what seems to be the north east edge of the Himalayas I THINK ...... gotta take the altitude pills again. Of course I'll reserve my judgment on that cos betcha THEY haven't seen the bits of Greece I have that is actually the home of the Gods !
