That's okay while the majority stays moderate. We have, however, seen how quickly that can change, for example in Turkey and, less well known, Brunei. Both have moved from largely secular, tolerant (more or less) , modern societies to backward, Sharia-based dictatorships which abuses human rights, preaches hatred of the West and as for things like women's rights, well, forget it!
All in a few short years.
The problem is, a stricter interpretation of Islam REQUIRES these things, because they are clearly written out in the Koran. The 'moderates' are moderate only because they are moderate also in their practice of Islam (a bit like Christians who go to Church for weddings and at Christmas but other wise don't worry too much about it). As a Muslim, if you want to practice "more" Islam, if you want to be more "devout" in that faith, then you must tread a path of hate and violence. That's why it's so dangerous.
And people who ask such questions, who harbor reasonable doubts and who are concerned, should not be compared to Nazis. I had family who suffered under the Nazis, it's not a word to be used lightly. The most intolerant, rednecked, bigoted, gun-toting hick is 1000 light years from a true Nazi.
