I've never got to see the 30% increase in speed on the WGL app until a few days ago - I thank @maglor again for all his efforts & insights (and yes I did doubt you for a few months - sorry)

I'm on IOS iphone 6, iinet NBN 12MB speed cap.

So Wangle team suggests that I use fast.com to check my speed (powered by netflix).

So I've been getting about 1mb speed on my wifi at home with Wangle which was not encouraging at all. (I use MTU 1380 as suggested with Advanced SSL & Web proxies enabled).

1mb!! come on.. something is seriously wrong - loading videos was a pain obviously.

Then after a few weeks I decided to play around with the MTU, and the lower the number the higher my speed test results.

I've decided that the optimal setting for me is MTU 1000/1050, data savings off or on (doesn't make much diff), and everything else enabled.

Without Wangle on wifi i get 5.5-6.5mb

(i've contacted my ISP, they have no clue why its not higher, they've tried to reset on their end still no change - and they use fast.com as well to measure speed )

With Wangle I get 8.5-10.5MB (lets call it 9.3mb on average). Now you guys might think, oh big deal you're getting 9.4mb on your wifi with Wangle. That's 30-40% increase in speed!

Fact is I cannot watch HD (1080p) videos on my iphone 6.. I just can't, it won't load.

And as you guess, it loads on Wangle and buffer time is about 1 second, very happy. Best part also its super stable, and I can skip forward without lag. I encourage everyone to try it, my internet at home is now significantly faster with Wangle.

So that was one encouraging result, secondly I downloaded VPN master, Betternet and SurfEasy VPN (all are free/have free trial). See below the fast.com results for them & comments on use:

VPN Master: 1-2.5MB, its useable but no chance of watching even 720p comfortably
Betternet: 1-3.5MB, similar experience with VPN Master

SurfEasy VPN: 5-9MB, yup this one is fast! but doesn't seem as stable as Wangle in terms of speed, the speed is much more erratic on fast.com relative to Wangle. I think this one is a premium VPN they charge $10.42 AUD per month. And of course they are owned by Opera. And yes I was able to watch 1080p as well - pretty comfortably.

Where does that put Wangle on the VPN quality spectrum? I say its pretty up there! problem is it's not user friendly, I had to play around with the settings etc. But I think this is also a positive as users can also tweak what is most optimal for them. I can't wait to see the final product before launch.

Obviously, I'm no Maglor, I just do these tests based on my own experience and logic. I really suggest that all the long term holders to play around with the app and try and get optimal results. It personally puts my mind to ease as I feel like this app have a real live usage (not sure about you guys who have 20mb+ internet as Maglor talked about before).

My next quest is of course to see how I can get the most data savings on my mobile network, which will be hard as I only have 1.5gb a month from stingy Telstra.. and you can't reset your data savings on Wangle...

Oh and Wangle management if you are reading this I would definitely appreciate a desktop app for Wangle as my internet is super fast at 5.2mb/sec on desktop!! (sarcasm)

Good luck for everyone for the launch
