I think its just as plausible as 'parties unknown trying to keep the price down' its not an untoward or unusual thing to have cornerstone investors buying and supporting a company.
There are bots on all sorts of stocks, but share closing down by a single share at the end of the day is not some conspiracy, its simply the trades happening at the auction and people jumping the queue and leaving 1 share less than whats on offer so they pay the cheapest price when it matches.
Unless existing large holders are expecting or pushing management to undertake a capital raising, I cant imagine why any would want to keep a placement price low. The lower a raise price, the worse for all existing holders.
