Mate we will continue to hear about advances in battery technology using different minerals and it will no doubt happen one day. Cobalt is already used in battery technology and I recently sold my shares in a cobalt play for a very nice profit and will probably buy back into that same company in a month or two.
Change is inevitable but IMO we are looking at nickel, lithium, graphite and cobalt as the basis of battery energy storage for the next 10 to 15 years.
good luck with the research but remember you are on a pretty good horse at the moment.
