Tim Goyder is a Perth-based mining investor and entrepreneur with a strong track record of successful investment and value creation in the Australian and international resources sector.
Tim commenced his prospecting career at the age of 20, pegging mineral sands and coal leases in the North Perth basin of Western Australia, and at a young age, executed exploration agreements with iron ore industry legends Hancock and Wright.
In 1980, at the age of 26 he became a major shareholder and director of Kemple Mines (later named Western Ventures), with his stake eventually acquired by interests associated with Melbourne Entrepreneur Joseph Gutnick.
In 2000 he acquired Grimwood Davies, an Australia-wide drilling business, where he implemented a significant business restructure and a renewed corporate and operational focus. Tim later sold the business to global mining services group Boart Longyear (pre-IPO) in 2006-07.
Since then, Tim has been a major shareholder and founding director of a number of Perth-based ASX-listed and TSX-listed companies, and now controls a stable of emerging resource companies based in West Perth.
These include international gold development company Chalice Gold Mines (ASX: CHN, TSX: CXN), where he is Managing Director, emerging Australian lithium explorer Liontown Resources (ASX: LTR) and Australian uranium explorer Uranium Equities Limited (ASX: UEQ).
In 2012, Tim managed the sale of Chalice Gold Mines’ Zara Gold Project in Eritrea to China SFECO Group and the Eritrean National Mining Corporation (“ENAMCO”) for a total consideration of US$114 million – a landmark transaction which crystallised significant value for shareholders.
In addition to his business and corporate roles, Tim also supports numerous not-for-profit and philanthropic endeavours.
