Number 2: Never invest more than I'm willing to loose and know when to cut my losses
Number 3: I take time off from stocks if I have a big loss, regroup, think what I did wrong and use it to become a better investor going forward. I don't blame the market, or luck, I made those choices and accept the result good or bad.
Number 4: Don't think of cash value in stocks as a way to reach an asset acquiring goal (car/house etc), I think of stocks as gains and losses, the only number that matters is the positive at the end of the year, how much that is depends how well I invested.
Number 5: Have an investment strategy and stick to it with only slight flexibility for how the market reacts
