Funnily enough I called STX today and was put through to Simon Ashton...I briefly told him of my disappointment at the timing and style of the placement. He was polite enough. However, I was principally calling to find out when the announcement was going to be made.

I have just reviewed the announcements made in December 2005 to see what language was used in reference to gas readings. There were no words like "significant" used as far as I could see (or even "elevated"). Just simply "gas shows have been recorded" etc. It was also the case back then that there were gas shows above the primary targets and it looks a very similar scenario to this Flint/McGall well.

All that made me think that maybe the company is just being conservative right now. But then again I also looked at the recent announcement just before the placement...the word "significant" was in evidence there. So basically I am none the wiser. They have certainly not implied this is any bonanza...I guess slow drilling and confirmation from wireline logs as per the initial Wilcox formation discoveries will be the order of the day.
