Well I dont pretend to be an expert but after doing a lot of reading etc and having 60,000 AMP selling down to 50,000 at $4.91. just befor the NAB "bid" I've got a lot riding on this one under a margin loan.... so I can't afford to get it wrong... and AMP was well and truly oversold and shorted on all the negative publicity.
As Fat prophets said ..."AMP is too big to go down".. I had the resources to ride the waves but not a HIH!After the NAB buy I feel more comfortable to now hang on for the bouncy ride up!
There will be some choppy waters ahead.. but in the end after bids and counter bids; blockers before/after demerger (if it happens... and now its no big deal if it doesn't) AMP will IMHO tip $9-$10 value.
The action in this one is going to be eqivalent to 5 "normal" takeover bids.. with many combinations/permutations on bidders from overseas and here as well as consortiums having deals to split AMP ...that may only come out as the deals unwind.
See its possible NAB doesnt want a demerger.. they may block the split and keep some of the UK assets.. they have the capital to do that.
It's going to be fun.. I'm Up $85K and I think there's another $150K to go... my only regret was I sold the 50K Promina($1.70) allocated to me at $1.96 but then that went to AMP.
The main underlying reason I bid for PMN and bought on the lows in AMP was the advice from FP. Go AMP!!!!
