I think you are referring to No Win No Fee.
I worked for such a law firm as a graduate. They are easy money and that why they are offered.
This is not such a case. There is too much uncertainty about the outcome. They would demand a deposit upfront into their Trust account and then send a weekly bill for the time spent.
And when the funds in the Trust account is low, they would demand a top up.
