Seems like a few questions in there , so will break down to points , of course the following will be IMO based on my own understanding & trading.
Q 1. Aus sales limited to extracts for diseases , extracts also being oil.
A. No , there is also sales of medical bud for inhaling that you can buy & tropical creams. The condition of diseases must meet certain criteria before being prescribed.
Q.2 If we are all legalising extracts , won't the market become smaller ?
A. There is a massive range of medical uses which non have FDA for , also as mentioned above & in my post with more detail

So far there is only one crop of cannabis growing in Aus that i'm aware of & thats somewhere in Vic under a secret location , unsure who owns it. Hemp i now believe to be insignificant to the medical sector when compared to cannabis , having said that MCL which is 51% owned by QBL have the only license in Aus to supply hemp seeds for consuming , grow & research for medical proposes.
Presser was put on the Government to let Aussie companies grow & supply MM, part of the reason was heavy import costs to patient , last year in Nov , the Gov past bills to make licensees more excisable to grow , supply & conduct research.
Now here is the important part IMO that will effect investments , the Aus market is worth $100 mill as suggested by a few articles. That's not a lot of money when we look at some of these MC on our listed to go around. But at the same time , the few who where here early aren't just about Aus market , a few have ties to US & Canada which both countries are looking to legalise weed for recreational use , hence the lofty market caps O/S.
I'm not sure about O/S funds/investors being the ones to lift our listed stocks as of late , maybe they pumped it early on to look like major action ? Stocks have been sitting ducks on dormant for months on end without movement , surely the value would have been seen earlier ? Which leads to my belief that it was the article about a Aus hedge fund making 150% returns on O/S pot stocks that made big money sit up to listen & the sheep's followed , the timing was spot on.
Right now it's all hype & fun stage , personally i'm just going to enjoy trading them all & not be fussed on who will make it , but i have done my DD to know what to look for in growth , hype & the likes to maximise gain's out of this sector.
Lastly , i trade my SMSF to very strict rules & would not put any of them in their at current MC's , main reason being entry would need to be very cheap . If i was looking to get a slice of the action for my SMSF or longs , i would wait for an IPO or something & jump in
