The State Government can’t do it all, but with local MP Darren Chester as the federal Transport Minister, there’s plenty of federal support too. Money is already being thrown at the area. Plans are abundant. There’s the Gippsland Freight Infrastructure Master Plan (2013), a proposed regional adjustment package that suggests, among other things, turning dryland into irrigation, a new agricultural education centre, a third airport in Cardinia Shire and turning coal into fertiliser.
