It's also the only thing Michael Moore and I seem to agree about (you're not really Michael Moore are you GZ??). In the otherwise highly flawed "Bowling for Columbine". Moore contrasted the high rate of gun ownership in Canada (actually higher than the US) where gun laws were only recently tightened (registration) but the gun homicide rate was much much lower than the US. So it wasn't the availability of guns that caused high gun homicide.

As I've said before, I think its pathetic that the Aust media are using a tragedy in another country to whip up the gun control frenzy here. I think they should stick with Jennifer Hawkins lingerie shows in the news...seeems to be their intellectual level.
