Although the 7 to 10 days does seem a bit long to get drill to ground with only a 6 hour convoy to site. Let's say it takes a whole shift for a slow crew to get to site, that is still only one day. Taking a day to set up a rig, long time also.

I think you may be taking the announcements a bit too literally. Mobilising the rig for example could mean it has just been released from its previous job, that it sits at base for a few days whilst rig crew clean up or take a couple of days well-earned rest and the rig then moved to site. Maybe the rig needs its regular maintenance.

When they say preparations for drilling are well underway this could mean a lot of things including the preparation of the site and surroundings for the imminent arrival of the rig.

For them to say they expect drilling to commence in 7 to 10 days, I would think that's a directive straight from the contractor.
