Ok, so this 10 in stock at a time just doesn't make sense , so I investigated some more and found the following terms for Amazon. It may explain limitations on stock quantities.

Inventory Storage Limits

To better manage fulfillment center storage space, we may establish inventory storage limits for some FBA sellers.
If you are subject to a storage limit, a storage monitor will appear in several places in your seller account, including on your Shipping Queue page (sign-in required).
Tip: If you are not subject to a storage limit, the storage monitor will not be displayed.

Typically, inventory storage limits apply to new FBA sellers and existing FBA sellers with slower-moving inventory. We may also create storage limits for specific ASINs. If an ASIN-specific limit is applied to your seller account, you can find the details in the downloadable Inventory Health report under the header asin-limit. This information is not available in the online Inventory Health report.
Your storage limit is the total amount of inventory you may store in Amazon fulfillment centers. Storage limits are automatically evaluated every month to determine whether or not your limit should be adjusted.
Your current inventory level takes into account your inventory in Amazon fulfillment centers, shipments that have been created, and any processed removal orders.
Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your inventory level to be updated once a shipment is received at an Amazon fulfillment center.
The green, yellow, and red indicators also alert you to how close you are to your limit:

• Green   Your inventory level is at less than 75% of your limit
• Yellow   Your inventory level is between 75% and 95% of your limit
• Red   Your inventory level is at more than 90% of your limit

Exceeding your limit

You will be notified in your seller account and by email when you reach your inventory storage limit. You will not be able to create a new shipment until your inventory level drops below your limit. For ASIN-specific limits, you will not be able to add those ASINs to a new shipment until your inventory of that ASIN drops below your limit.
If you send more inventory than your storage limit allows, the extra inventory may be refused at the fulfillment center. For more information, see the section entitled "Refused Shipments" in Shipping and Routing Requirements.
There are three ways to decrease the amount of inventory you have in an Amazon fulfillment center:

• Sell some of your current inventory
• Request to have some of your inventory returned to you by creating a removal order
• Request to have some of your inventory disposed of by creating a removal order

Important: Customer returns contribute to your overall inventory count.
When you create a removal order, cancel a shipment, or make similar changes, the inventory storage monitor won't reflect the changes until your request has been processed, typically the following day.

Requesting a storage limit increase

Storage limits are reviewed monthly. If you have sold 8% or more of your inventory each week in the nine (9) previous weeks, your inventory storage limit is eligible to be raised. To request an increase to your storage limit, contact Seller Support.
Note: Decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, and are influenced by factors such as inventory turnover rates and the type of inventory you currently maintain.

ASIN quantity limits

For select ASINs, FBA limits the number of items that you can ship to our fulfillment centers. These limits help you avoid sending products that have high inventory levels but low customer demand. Items that have been in Amazon fulfillment centers for 6 months or more are assessed a semi-annual Long-Term Storage Fee.
When creating a shipping plan that contains an ASIN with a quantity limit, you cannot exceed the stated maximum quantity. ASIN quantity limits may change over time based on inventory levels and sales.
