CGT event is triggered by a sale agreement. The settlement or transfer date is immaterial. You should consult an accountant but I suggest you sell the shares to a friend, complete a transfer form and sent it to the share registry. They won't action it for the time being but that doesn't matter. In the event the shares come good, your friend can't give them back but can shout you a beer at the pub.
