The word default in the DRP is a little confusing. Having reread the dividend announcement there is nothing unusual you have the option by a particular date 14th April to opt in or out.
I understand the delay in payment to those who opt for cash is that the company has to get permission to distribute (from China authorities),the exact amount is not known until after election. It takes about 1 month to process.
The best part is the 10% discount. This company has over the past 5 years showed c0nsistent growthand probably continue . I have said before they have a considerable cash war chest to increase plantation acquisition (over 140M$).
All they need to do is improve public relations..IMHO acquire propities with Jan-July cash flows
