It seems like building a toll bridge. If there's one bridge everyone needs to take your bridge and pay the toll to you. Someone else builds a bridge right next to yours, now people have a choice of which bridge to take. Suddenly your bridge has just lost its edge, likely still profitable but not as much as an exclusive bridge.

Of course this isn't 100% accurate as there are already other cables that exist. But I think it makes the point ok. The upside is that at this stage I think the Vocus cable is still due to be delivered about 12 months (someone else can correct me here) before the other one is due.
