excellent details Lenni and co. One place i disagree is the possibility of Chinese oversupplying to reduce prices, this has happened in the past but will never happen again.
The importance to China of REE's is not that they have the best REE industry, there's only 2 or 3 largish REE companies that currently are controlling a large proportion of world mining and processing supply. They are not important companies in China in their own right. What is important to them is the strategic importance of this supply to their enormous emerging manufacturing and tech industries. Just like India has recently restricted its iron ore exports, China has restricted supply of molybednum, tungsten and REE just in the last year, in order to give its downstream industries a competitive advantage.
The point I make is, the price and strategic significance of REE's will stay strong, and get even stronger over time. Unless there is enormous new supply from outside China, but they have 80% of known reserves so its just not going to happen.
