Sorry to take so long to respond but I feel I must.

I posted to Invest Egate that I believed that the string mud pump pressure would be the same for its intire length becuase of Pascal's Law.

He said " not so" and responded with a formula for physics.Also posted the comment "fundermental stuff,high school physic",suggesting I didn't understand.

I agreed that "head pressure" will be very high at 4.5kms.Pump mud pressure has to over-come "head pressure" so the used mud will flow to the surface.

Internal mud pressure inside the drill string has to be same for it intire length.Sorry,but Pascal's Law tells me this.

A question....if the pump mud string pressure was higher at the bottom of the well than at the surface where the drill is located,which way will the mud flow ?
