I think to citizens of the Peoples Republic of China it makes a lot of difference. A lot of petty difference, as much and most as these distinctions are. It's the petty stuff we fight to kill for, like irate Liverpool fans in a drunken brawl.

In as much as I am of Scandinavian/Bastard heritage I am not an Italian. The distinction may fly over the head of a man from Tianjin, or a fella from Melbourne, but for me, it matters.

To most Chinese (mainland & Taiwan) they probably thought " Vietnamese huh? Tamade - it shows ...."
