The conflict may not necessarily be with ML..... perhaps once the BGS "skirt" had been lifted all was not as expected.
He wouldn't be the first person to do an abrupt about-face when the inner workings of the company are laid bare..
Maybe it's a case of protecting his backside from any potential litigation against former or current directors in the future.
Seems like an astute response to me....
