On the flipside, MMJ are trying to legitimise a product that does not benefit society. For clarity, I am strictly speaking about marijuana for recreational use.
In response to the point you make about reducing/removing the crime element, you should look at the Amsterdam situation as a case study as the sale of illicit drugs tend to be centralised around legalised "coffee shops". The criminal element remains.
Yes, I drink alcohol and even brew my own beer. But I do not invest in companies where their primary business is alcohol production. Or tobacco. Or gambling. I do not want to profit off of losers who cannot control their vices responsibly.
