Suggestions received: participants provided the consortium with interesting comments and suggestions coming from their daily activities and experience, providing therefore the opportunity to enrich the tool with more effective features in terms of users’ needs.
Addressing in particular: -
The possibility to detect other kinds of events, such as car accidents, would be of great interest not only for police forces in preparing official reports of these events, but also would support insurance organizations for detecting the guilty parties in car accidents; in
Barcelona the possibilities of detection of fire in waste and cars would be of great interest, due to the frequency of such events; -
Considering that CCTV cameras are usually low-resolution: o
The face detection algorithms should take into account the low resolution of the face within the images and videos extracted from CCTV cameras. o
Capability of recognizing faces in lower resolution of trained investigators and super recognisers is higher than other people.
This should be taken into account for designing the tool assisting super recognisers, by for example adjusting the level of resolution of faces to be presented. o
Capability of the software to detect faces could be influenced if faces are in different poses (not only frontal but also side views), as usually happens in CCTV videos.
This should be taken into account in designing the face detection module and in its training with the dataset. -
Crowd motion events, fire detection and overspeeding / running of people could be interesting to be included in the video summarization, since they are events potentially interesting in investigations. - The representation as keyframes plus short sequences or a summary fits with daily work of police forces.
