Being a novice investor, I am always having trouble figuring out when is the best time to take a profit. I bought MLS at 7.8c and with it about to really take off I know I will be faced with this dilemma shortly. How does everyone else do it? Most of the time what I am trying to do is sell half a stock when it doubles to let it free-carry, though sometimes my stocks dont make it this high. In that case what do I do? Sell some when it increases by 50% just to be sure to lock in profits.
Many of you have much more experience than me...are there any general rules you use?
