The alternative to drawing a line in the sand is to give them as much time as they like to get it out of the lab and into the hand of licensees or customers. I don't think it's unfair to say 9 years (11 if you go back to Peter's initial effort with vWISP) is plenty to get it out the door. If you think that's unfair that's fine too, I just happen to disagree.

IMO the tech world in general moves a bit too fast to be going that slowly, complexity aside. They're incredibly lucky no one else seems to have made a viable product at the same level in the interim either - perhaps because most everyone else (barring a few fellow neuromorphically inclined competitors) was chasing the software-based DL path, which has its own set of pros and cons.

But I'm sure you'll agree the next 12 months are critical and they cannot afford to (or be seen to) be failing to make sales.
