To be frank and honest I really didn't care about the XRD comment initially made as the assays are in the lab which when assessed will give a more accurate and reliable result.
I'm thinking that if in the field and XRD technology is used it will give a quick go/ no go assessment to avoid wasting time.
May be wrong but I'm not a Geo so won't be losing any sleep over it...
