Re "was at loggerheads with the president."
In my mind, he could have been dismissed because he wanted to do the right thing according to the rules and that's not what the president wanted OR he was waiting for a bonus (or got one) and he got found out. In other words, is FAR backing the right one?
So with all these news and announcements, you would have thought that something on the PE would have got swept in with them.
Will we get a clarification from FAR.
