Interesting reading your posts. I'd have to disagree with you though and say that the Euro WILL become the world's default currency and will attain the same level of power as the US$ once did - it's only a matter of time.
I agree that France and Germany are in a bit of a mess at the moment but they are manageable. The US on the otherhand is not manageable - it is unsustainable. The only reason it "pays its way" as you pointed is because it borrows to fund "paying its way". The only way it can do this is through the demand of the US dollar - that's it. When this demand dwindles, you will find that the US will no longer be able to pay its way. It physically can't. It really is only a question of time - not if but when.
