I guess that's one explanation, though I cant help but think if they were looking for an exit, a simple clean cut would have been much easier and cheaper.
They stated a temporary suspension with the ability to start again when they are ready. That means an ongoing cost every month to keep it in a running state... Which has rocketed Kirkland's AISC for 2017... check out Kirkland's announcement.
They also stated why, which is for an operational review and "aggressive resource definition and exploration at the site". To me I wouldn't be spending any money on aggressive resource definition if I was planning to leave.
