Interesting that today BlackRock is celebrated for becoming a sub holder, with the vote of confidence that such a major insto buying in implies.

However, I have no doubt that in the process of accumulating their position to date they have in part been responsible for driving the SP down in recent times - which has caused so much angst, anti-shorter sentiment, etc, on this forum - so until now they have been one of the "bad guys". People should not forget that.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the level of open shorts in the coming week - to gauge whether shorters have changed their view now that BR is on board.
