There is very little evidence to support any claim that Bin Laden or AQ had any connection or support from Iraq, a view that is even supported by the CIA for what thats worth. So how is lack of support from Iraq under Saddam going to affect AQ any more than lack of support from Iraq under the control of the US. If anything AQ are more active in Iraq since the invasion then at any time prior.
Yes I will agree that IF at some time in the future Iraq does become free democratic country that is a model for the rest of the middle east the AQ support base may be weakened. That unfortunately for the Iraqi people though is a big IF and a very long way of if it ever does happen.
