    I'm glad you asked!

Hot dry rock geothermal is a very new industry, has developed because of recent advances in deep drilling and fracturing from the oil and gas industries. Interest is growing rapidly worldwide, the US govenment just yesterday announced $400 million to spend on research.

Australia has massive reserves of geothermal energy, enough to meet our power needs for hundreds of years. Individual power plants could potentially supply very large amounts of power (1000MW+).

The challenge is to prove it on a commercial scale and also to build the transmission infrastructure as you can't always choose the location of the reserves.
