towie, separating hydrogen from water is the ideal choice as it results in no emmissions however unfortunantely it is EXTREMELY expensive and do date can only be done via electrolysis - not feasible based on current technology but many people are trying hard to come up with new technologies. Separating hydrogen from carbon atoms is much cheaper and is done by steam reforming but results in CO2! Bad, unless you can geosequestrate the CO2...
