I have no doubt the government will find ways to completely stuff it up.
Nevertheless it is a worthy exercise to look after those who got unlucky in life, either at birth or through accident.
What if tomorrow one of us has a relative in need because he/she is sick or was hit in a car accident? The scheme will provide the support we need.

My biggest problem is that our taxes should be used to pay for things such as the NDIS (as well as basic health care, security, education and other basic government services), instead way too much of it is being wasted on middle class welfare. It is not our responsibility if someone is struggling to pay a mortgage they should never have taken in the first place (those struggling mortgage holders every politician loves to mention), and our money shouldn't be used so people can complement their lifestyle (how many people receiving welfare have a brand new TV?).

More $$ for the NDIS and for those in real need (mental health, kids in difficult family situations or older workers in need to be retrained), and less for the people who can fend for themselves would make for a fairer Australia. Our responsibility is to look after those who can't look after themselves, not after people who can have a crack and provide for themselves.
The NDIS should at least partly be funded by cutting some of our out of control middle class welfare
