When we lived in China I recall quite a few times when my wife (Chinese) would be invited out to dinner by friends / acquaintances for what turned out to be hard selling sessions to join in what seemed to me pyramid selling schemes. Water filters, Amway, Malaysian prune juice were some of the products. There were no success stories, and they were all poorer, uneducated types involved. I thought Australia had consumer protection laws against pyramid schemes, no?
