US funds can only start buying when SP is above US$1. Likewise, shares listed on the NYSE face delisting when SP falls lower than one US dollar
All the major holders like HSBC know this and hence they voted in unison to pass the consolidation

But hopefully this is the beginning of the end to manipulation by bots. It was way too easy for them before; force the SP up or down one cent and make everything go through mid then rinse and repeat.
Now with the SP 5 times (and a bit more) higher, with the same amount of capital, they now make 5 times less profit from whatever they were doing before
