Truer words have never been spoken however I may have a pill that perhaps eases your condition. I've mentioned this a while back on here but it's something that is always prominent in my mind.
Way back in the 90's our investment funds were not all that plentiful however I did scratch around and find sufficient to get 10,000 CSL and 10,000 COH in their respective floats, $2.30 and $2.20 from memory. Both great companies with excellent management and being given away, CSL had a brand new vaccine plant that really was worth more than their total IPO amount.
They both got to $10 at which stage I sold the lot, thought I was a bloody hero, never even looked at buying back in later. There was nothing at all wrong with both companies when I sold, in fact they were roaring ahead.
Why did I sell or even just sell a portion? Probably because it is so easy to sell a winner (and so hard to sell a loser).
I put the cash into something else which never did much.
Nothing like experience to smarten up my thinking, sure there quite often will come a time where a real red flag appears and then you have to toughen up and, if necessary, sell but just to sell on a whim, as I did,
is crazy stuff.
Maybe that account will help a bit, trick is to do the sums on what they are now, print it out in mile high figures, and then plaster it to your forehead. Sure cured me.
Fluence now is in the great position of being immune from takeover unless the board and RL agree, highly unlikely for at least 5 years, probably much longer. Don't put them in the bottom drawer, trick is if you have a chest of drawers that is enclosed at the bottom you take out the bottom drawer and put them underneath at ground level and replace the drawer. Then even the burglars can't find them
