Yea that is a bit of a surprise, 3.7% of share capital shorted yesterday (gross), 23M
In theory there was big sell pressure to get out of the index fund, talk of shorters using the opportunity to close out their position, which should reduce net shorts.
Not sure how to make sense of that.
Could it be shorters betting the MCSI overhang will push share price down in coming few days, where they will buy back ?
(EDIT: it would help explain the bounce early today)
