You weren't aware of the rights that same sex relationships had and it is someone else's problem apparently ? Considering how strongly opposed you and others are on this forum I assumed that you were an expert on the subject .

Personally I don't care whether they get it or not so I previously wasn't interested in knowing more . But because I saw a couple of threads where people were using some very strong language opposing ssm I thought maybe there's more to it ? I thought maybe there is something I'm missing ? Hence my interest .

So far , still haven't found any reasons except for a bit of selfishness and some religious beliefs .

Objection to a plebiscite . Yes , because a plebiscite is not binding . It is my understanding that even if the electorate voted for ssm , the parliment could reject it .

A straight up , first past the post vote is dead simple . Opposing sides have the opportunity to put their cases before the public if they choose ( I reckon the church could afford it more than anyone else ) before the vote so that the public has access to the information prior . I would much prefer for people to make an informed choice .

Not much point offering the gays an alternative word . Clearly , they don't want that otherwise they would have been lobbying for that , wouldn't they ? So , they run the risk of getting it or not in a vote . If there are so many people like yourself opposed then they miss out on using the word ' marriage ' . Once again , simple .

Your reason is aligned with the church's objections ? And what are they exactly . That's the question I have been asking .
Please post the church's ( which church btw ? ) objections and then tell us which one's you are aligned to . More simple stuff .

Why do they want it ? I can only guess so they can express their love for each other in the eyes of the Australian government just like hetero couples can , or some crap like that . How would I know ?

Let me be clear for the last time . I'm not gay . That said , if I was gay I would certainly not be ashamed or reluctant to admit it on HC or in my personal life for that matter . Unlike others who are opposed and yet cannot provide a valid reason my honest opinion is here for all to read .
