    Wrt Lihir concur entirely. Could add that they are otherwise reliant on expensive diesel gen (O Dam on the grid) and that I understood they needed to cool the mine face (hence needed to recirculate, and cool water regardless).

    I have done work for BHP, and I can assure you they are no charity, in fact they can be a bunch of hard nosed, tight fisted b*stards.
