I went down to the bottom of the GrandCanyon once on Muleback -

Such intelligent creatures Mules. Go right to the end of this narrowest of paths to the many hair-pin bends - look down into the depths -(and so do you - sweating) - and then wisely decide it's time to turn the bends.

They send the Mules down on their own with supplies for the camp below. And they bring themselves back up again. Very clever gee-gees.

I hear they're recruiting donkeys now too. They're not so intelligent. Although they tend not to take the hair-pin bends - they just keep right on walking - out into space. They put the really obstreporous tourists on the donkeys! Would you like a job application form?
