Free speech should allow insult and offense. It should not allow inciting violence and vilification.
Muslims and non Muslims show be freely able to discuss / debate the Koran. At an intellectual level, many fundamentalist Muslims would in fact be in agreement with people against Islam - the Koran advocates for armed jihad, non integration, Sharia law, etc.
The problem is that if this is your intellectual position and also your religion, you are in fact inciting violence by spreading this view. Given that Muslim expressing these views would be prosecuted / put on a watch list, none will say it publicly. Therefore the only people providing commentary are the Waleed Aly types, so they give a one side view that Jihad is not true Islam, Sharia is praying 5 times a day, and Islam is the most feminist religion.
So Catch 22. If you allow these views to be publicly aired you may incite terrorism. If you suppress these views then the elites can keep feeding the line that Islam is a religion of peace.
