Can I please address some issues you have raised.

From my knowledge, NTL has majority NZ shareholders.

Re the area being disruptive to neighbouring residents. It is my understanding that equipment for the mine had been transported to site and PK were only aware of this after the fact (a full 2 days after stumbling upon it by accident). This clearly constitutes little to no disruption to locals.

Re the area getting 'wrecked'. Experts from the Waikato Regional Council, Hauraki District Council and NTL have all concluded that there is no risk to the water quality.
As for a major hole in the ground - Waihi is a pit mine, NTL is an underground mine, hardly an apples for apples comparison.

DOC owns the land including the portal pad. Under the Conservation Act, DOC can decide how to use the land. The access road is not conservation area and is a road owned by the HDC. It is all lawful and above board.

So, as I have said on numerous previous posts, the precious metals that get extracted from this mine will be put to good use for medicinal, technological and environmental purposes in the long run. With more supply, prices for goods requiring these materials comes down. I would have thought that the majority of PK members would appreciate that, however, the more I read the comments above the more I tend to believe that this is a NIMBY issue (not in my back yard) rather than an environmental one. I say this as points above reiterate the fact that certain individuals want there cake and eat it too. They want the benefits that come with precious metals but don't want to add to the supply chain, just let 3rd world nations citizens mine and discover these under unsafe working conditions so comparatively wealthy NZ's can reap the benefits.
