It's probably costing upwards of $200 mill per year to support and manage these 2,000 in detention, with no imminent resolution. A one-off out of court settlement of say $300 mill is somewhat pragmatic. That cost can be sheeted back to the incoming Labor government to fund. Poetic justice?
